19 year old Paralyzed after being Shot by Police
19 year old Victor Rodriguez was paralyzed from the waist down after an incident involving two New Brunswick, NJ police officers. According to accounts from family members, on the night of the incident Rodriguez was heading home when he was attacked by two unknown assailants.
Rodriguez was armed with a starter pistol, and fired two blank rounds to ward off the two attackers. Two plain clothed detectives encountered the situation, and started firing at Rodriguez. He was struck 5 times in the leg, the abdomen, and the spinal column, resulting in paralysis.

Middlesex County Prosecutors are investigating the shooting and could not be reached for comment. Many of the family members who witnessed the incident allege that Victor was on the ground defenseless, when he was struck with the round that paralyzed him. However, representatives from the local police union claim that the officers involved in the shooting were justified, and that they used an appropriate level of force in response to the situation.
